Mangrove ecosystems play vital ecological and economic roles for coastal communities, yet they continue to face degradation due to land conversion and unsustainable utilization. This study aims to analyze the potential of mangrove ecotourism development based on ecosystem services as an alternative for sustainable coastal management in the Lembar Selatan area, West Lombok. The research employed a mixed-methods approach through vegetation surveys, environmental parameter measurements, ecosystem services identification, socio-economic surveys, in-depth interviews, and sustainability analysis using MDS and SWOT. The results showed that the mangrove ecosystem in this area has moderate diversity (H'=1.5) with Rhizophora spp. dominance, moderate health status (MHI 34.95–56.49%) and density, and provides all categories of ecosystem services (provisioning, regulating, supporting, and cultural). The area is suitable for ecotourism development with a score of 2.65, supported by natural beauty, biodiversity (44 bird species), and good accessibility. However, management faces challenges including low human resource capacity, limited community participation, the absence of POKMASWAS, and threats from land-use change and pollution. SWOT analysis indicated the management position in Quadrant I, thus recommended strategies include utilizing biodiversity for ecotourism and rehabilitation, strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration, developing sustainable economy through mangrove products and carbon credits, and strengthening local institutions. This study concludes that ecosystem service-based ecotourism development has good prospects as an alternative for sustainable coastal management, yet its success requires the commitment of all stakeholders in implementing the principles of conservation, participation, and sustainability in an integrated manner.
