Biofilter Aerob dengan Media Kayu Meranti untuk Mengolah Limbah Tahu

Salah satu limbah cair pada industri tahu memiliki konsentrasi pencemar berupa BOD sebesar 556,88 mg/l, COD sebesar 2870,4 mg/l, dan TSS sebesar 620 mg/l. Dengan jumlah total kandungan parameter tersebut masih diatas standar baku mutu atau peraturan yang telah ada, maka diperlukan pengolahan agar tidak merusak lingkungan saat dibuang ke badan air. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh perbandingan jumlah lubang pada media biofilter, laju aerasi, dan waktu kontak pada unit pengolahan biofilter aerob. Adapun penelitian ini memanfaatkan kayu meranti sebagai media yang digunakan pada unit pengolahan biofilter aerob yang dilakukan secara batch dalam menurunkan parameter pencemar pada limbah tahu. Sebelum melakukan penelitian utama biofilter aerob, dilakukan pre-treatment berupa proses koagulasi-flokulasi untuk menurunkan jumlah konsentrasi TSS. Variasi jumlah lubang yang digunakan adalah media tanpa lubang, lubang 3, lubang, 6, dan lubang 9. Variasi laju aerasi yang digunakan adalah 3 L/menit dan 8 L/menit. Sedangkan variasi HRT yang diambil adalah 12, 24, 36, 48, dan 72 jam. Hasil yang diperoleh dari penelitian yang paling optimal didapatkan pada reaktor media dengan jumlah lubang 3, laju aerasi 8L/menit, dan waktu kontak 72 jam. Dimana hasil tersebut dapat menurunkan konsentrasi COD sebesar 93,31%, BOD 87,10%, dan TSS 40,54%.
